The Super Bowl weekend box office is shaping up to be rather sluggish, and the film "Send Help" from 20th Century Studios, directed by Sam Raimi, is projected to earn around $10 million in its second weekend across 3,475 theaters. This follows a Friday where it made $3 million. If this trend continues, it would represent a decline of about 48%, which is quite impressive for a film within its genre. The total gross for the film after ten days would rise to approximately $35.8 million in North America.
Taking the second spot this weekend is Angel Studios' romantic comedy "Solo Mio," starring Kevin James, which is also expected to pull in about $3.1 million today, including $744,000 from previews held yesterday. Its opening weekend total is estimated to reach around $7.6 million from 3,052 theaters.
In third place is Bleecker Street's K-pop concert film "Stray Kids: The dominATE Experience," which is anticipated to earn about $3.2 million today (with $900,000 coming from 351 IMAX previews earlier in the week) and could end the weekend with around $5 million from 1,724 locations. This film has received a stellar 100% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, although critics have yet to weigh in.
Fourth place looks to be occupied by "Dracula," directed by Luc Besson and distributed by Vertical, which is projected to generate $2.3 million today, leading to an opening of around $4.8 million. This figure would mark a record for the distributor, surpassing the previous best of $2.5 million from "We Bury the Dead." Audiences are favoring the film over critics, scoring it 75% compared to the critics' 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In fifth position is Markiplier’s horror film "Iron Lung," which is expected to rake in about $4.65 million in its second weekend from 2,930 theaters. This represents a significant drop of 74% following a second Friday that brought in roughly $1.5 million. By Sunday, its cumulative earnings are projected to be around $29.45 million.
Meanwhile, Lionsgate's "The Strangers – Chapter 3," playing in 2,565 theaters, is looking at a take of about $1.7 million today, leading to an estimated opening of $3.7 million. For context, its predecessor, "Strangers 2," debuted last September with $5.8 million, while the first installment achieved a robust $11.8 million upon its release in May 2024. This latest horror installment has not yet garnered an audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, currently sitting at a dismal critic rating of 19%.
What about Amazon MGM Studios’ "Melania"? In its second weekend, it’s tracking for $3.5 million, reflecting a 51% decrease, bringing its running total over ten days to about $14.5 million.
To compare, last year’s Super Bowl weekend saw DreamWorks Animation’s "Dog Man" leading the pack with $13.8 million, contributing to a total weekend gross of $54.2 million, marking it as one of the slowest weekends of 2025.
